At the Department of Occupational Therapy’s Pinning and Hooding Ceremony, Lynn Kitchens, MS, OTR/L, received the Jayne T. Shepherd “Making a Difference” Alumni Award, in recognition of her service to the field and the department.

Kitchens is a 1982 graduate of VCU Occupational Therapy and has since provided countless years of service to our faculty, students and staff.

Through her work as a school-based OT, Kitchens coordinated all clinical placements for Chesterfield County Public Schools and served as the fieldwork educator for hundreds of students. She has also served on our Graduate Admissions Committee for over 10 years, reviewing incoming applications and participating in meetings to select incoming students – a role in which she continues to serve in her retirement. We thank her for her invaluable contributions to the department.
