Dear Prospective Entry-Level OTD Student,

We are happy that you are interested in VCU OT! We are excited to share with you all the aspects of the admissions process. You may also wish to refer to our program pages to learn more specifics about the program.

The Department of Occupational Therapy in the College of Health Professions at Virginia Commonwealth University strives to create a cohort of students that honors each individual's background, identity, and lived experience. We seek self-directed learners, who demonstrate compassion and empathy for fellow humans. An ideal candidate would be one who is motivated to learn; demonstrates knowledge of the breadth and depth of OT and shares a passion for the profession; and who would enrich their cohort and the profession with diverse experiences, ideas and/or thoughts.

The Admissions and Recruitment Committee is committed to our values of human dignity, respect, and humanity. Through holistic review of applications, we affirm our commitment to justice and inclusivity, offering equal opportunities for individuals applying to our program. We seek to have a program that is recognized for the impact that comes from having a diverse student population.

We are here to answer your questions and support you as you move through the application process. A good place to start in learning about the VCU EL-OTD program and the application process, is by exploring these webpages. We invite you to attend an Information Session where you will have the opportunity to interact with a faculty member and current students. These sessions are invaluable and highly recommended. Please feel free to reach out to otentrylevel@vcu.edu with any questions that you might have.
