Design Thinking and its Application to Occupational Therapy

Self-paced online course | 0.65 AOTA CEUs | 6.5 Contact hours | $150

Description

This course showcases the design thinking framework and shows participants how to apply this knowledge in their occupational therapy practice.  Design thinking can be applied across multiple areas of OT practice and across multiple settings. The understanding of the design thinking framework supplement well with practitioners seeking to customize their approach to OT interventions for their unique clients’ needs. However, design thinking processes are relatively underutilized amongst OT practitioners, and this current gap in knowledge limits the potential for furthering OT’s strive for client centered practice, in the form of customizing interventions and equipment their clients need. As part of this course, participants will engage in the experience of completing a design project that can be used to increase participation and engagement in occupation for a client of their choosing.
