Sensory Integration Think Tank (SITT) Summit

Purpose: Bring together scholars who are interested in, or currently studying, the effects of sensory integration treatment and/or the impact of sensory processing and integration differences on daily life functioning across the age span.

Aims:

  1. Provide a forum for students, junior, and mid-career researchers to get feedback on research ideas, grant submissions, or research protocols.
  2. Foster networking among researchers, students, and clinician-scientists for purposes of mentorship, collaboration, and idea development.
  3. Identify actionable next steps to grow research and knowledge translation in the area of sensory integration and processing.

Scholarly Event Types

  • Project Feedback and Development (PFD):  Students, junior, or mid-career researchers get feedback on projects or ideas in development.
  • Invited Papers: Experienced researchers and their students will present their published (or in press) papers on impactful topics and discuss how others can build on this work.
  • Brainstorming Breakout Sessions: Small group discussions on topics pre-identified by conferences planners and stakeholders. A senior researcher or clinician scientist will moderate the discussion. 
  • Posters: Poster session will be open to all levels of researchers; students who present their PFD can also present as a poster.
  • Invited Talks:
    • Lived Experiences Panel
    • Implementation and De-implementation practices and frameworks
    • Treatment Specificity and Research Reporting
    • Funding mechanisms for SI research
